Student stories:
“I worked as an office administrator for seven years. I really wanted a career that was for life, and nursing was the career I always wanted. I just decided to make the move and apply for SWAP, and now I am one week from the end and can’t believe it! The SWAP programme has helped me with my academic skills and has prepared me for uni. I have met some great friends and enjoyed it.”
“Before enrolling in college I was a full-time mother of two young daughters. My younger daughter was going to be starting school so by doing this course, I knew I would be starting at university when she starts going to school. I have enjoyed my year at college and feel the SWAP programme has prepared me well for my journey through university.”
“Before I started the SWAP course, I worked in a care home for six years. I wanted a career change and decided to become a nurse. It was a very good and interesting experience, and has resulted in me getting a place at university. I’ve also made some brilliant friends.”
“To become a nurse has always been a lifelong dream and ambition of mine, and the SWAP Access to Nursing programme has given me the opportunity to achieve these goals. Before enrolling, I was a full-time mum and I also helped care for relatives. My experience of the SWAP programme has been a very positive one as the course has increased my confidence. My knowledge has grown and it has helped me achieve my goal of going to university.”
