SCC Welcomes First SWAP Students
Nestled in Scotland’s capital in the north of Edinburgh lies The Scotland College of Chiropractic (SCC), a college that has been created by the profession, for the profession. Having opened in 2023, this new Higher Education Institution offers a four-year, full-time, undergraduate degree (MChiro). Their aim is to create a sense of belonging on campus and within the chiropractic profession, and to deliver societal impact in our communities, all whilst fulfilling a mission to educate, empower, and inspire great people to excel as chiropractors.
Leigh Dilks, Director of Business Development at SCC:
“At SCC we firmly believe that chiropractic is a career for anyone interested in science, health, well-being, and working in primary healthcare. In return, we offer an inclusive and empathetic environment for tomorrow’s practitioners to learn.
The route to SCC can be varied and diverse for many students and we are grateful to SWAP and the work they do to promote and support access to higher education.
We are delighted to have three exceptional students, Paul McLuskey, Lana Niga, and Daniel Bell, pictured below from left to right, who joined SCC in 2023 and 2024, after completing SWAP access programmes.
Speaking about her experience, Lana said: “I completed the Access to Life Sciences SWAP course to prepare me for higher education after being out of education for over five years. This course was greatly beneficial as I gained a basic understanding of Biology, Chemistry, and research which are essential for the MChiro. If I hadn't completed the SWAP course, I would have struggled with the content of this degree programme as it builds on prior knowledge. The SWAP course gives you an insight into what university life will be like and gradually builds up the amount of content which is helpful to ease adults back into education after a long period of time.”

With great demand for chiropractors in the UK, there has never been a better time to consider a career in chiropractic, where graduate employability remains buoyant. On completing the MChiro programme, our graduates will be practice-ready: able to make the transition from student to professional practitioner with confidence.
If you would like to find out more about the MChiro programme, the team is ready and waiting to hear from you.
