Reid Kerr College 2012/13
Access to Humanities
The Reid Kerr College 'Access to Humanities' class of 2012/13 have moved on to study a variety of subjects at HN or degree level, including Psychology, History of Art, Celtic Studies, Primary Education, Film & Media, Journalism, Politics and HNC Social Care. Some have opted to stay on another year at Reid Kerr or to join another college; others are moving to Strathclyde University, Glasgow University, UWS or the University of Stirling. All are looking forward to their next steps!
What were the best bits about the SWAP programme and your year at college?
“I have felt completely supported throughout the course and without SWAP I would not have such an incredible opportunity to go to Glasgow University.”
“I feel a tremendous sense of achievement on completion of the course. My confidence levels have risen dramatically."
“I’ve been stretched and challenged – all at a good pace and under the watchful and attentive guidance of a highly motivated and professional group of lecturers.”
“The choice of progression routes allows a huge degree of flexibility and variety of career paths. The programme is available to a huge diversity of people – which has made the year both challenging and interesting on many levels. Great. Fantastic!”
“I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the learning process and learning different methods to study different subjects. As the year progressed, I identified where my weaknesses lay and put more focus on them.”
“At first I was unsure if I was academic enough, and I lacked confidence. After my first few assessments (and I passed) I realised that by studying and applying myself, I can achieve great results. I have met some truly inspiring people and I have realised that I’m not the only one that wants to retrain and change my life. It is the best decision I have made.”
