Forth Valley College offering SWAP programmes again
Forth Valley College has a new Access to Nursing programme which will start in September, giving new opportunities for adults living locally to get into Nursing.

Sarah Higgins, Director of Curriculum in FVC’s Department of Care, Sport Business and Communities, said: “The SWAP Access to Nursing course is an excellent opportunity for adult returners to education to change careers and build a new and exciting career in health care. We are confident the students graduating from this course will go on to have a worthwhile and rewarding career.’’

This will give opportunities to adult returners living in the Stirling, Falkirk, Alloa area.
From there, routes are in place for these students to progress onto Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Child Nursing at several universities.

Shona Barrie, Director of Admissions and Access at the University of Stirling commented: “We are delighted about the introduction of the SWAP Access to Nursing programme at Forth Valley College, which will provide a new route for adult learners seeking a career in Nursing. We very much value our partnership with SWAP, and with the College and we look forward to students progressing to the University of Stirling.”

Prof Ashley Shepherd, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport added: “We recognise the valuable and unique life experiences many mature students bring with them when they commence a university programme.  The interpersonal and communication skills mature students have are important qualities in nursing.  For some students, studying for a degree may seem out of reach, but at the University of Stirling we provide you with excellent levels of academic and personal support to allow you to achieve your goals.”
