Access to Arts, Social Sciences and Primary Teaching
When I left school, I worked in a bank from 1991 to 2001; I left after the birth of my second child.  When my second child started school, I started helping out at her school whenever I could - in the classroom, on trips and so on - so much so that by the time she was in Primary 6, her teacher told me I could the job too if I wanted!

I got quite excited by the idea and looked into how I could go about obtaining the necessary entrance qualifications for university and that was when I discovered SWAP – it was perfect for what I needed.  Not only would it give me the qualification I needed, it would also give me the confidence I needed to believe in myself and the opportunity to make some fantastic lifelong friends who were in the same position as myself.

I passed the course in 2013 and went on to study Primary Education at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with a 2:1 in 2017.  I then completed my probationary year with East Lothian Council and am now a real-life primary school teacher
J To anyone considering a SWAP course, I would wholeheartedly encourage you to go for it! You might just get the career of your dreams J
