Time Management

When we ask the question: "What is the most challenging thing about being a student again?" one of the most consistent answers we hear is: "time management."

Keeping up with coursework, remembering deadlines and juggling the multiple responsibilities of family, study, work and a social life can be a bit daunting, especially if it means a significant change of pace from what you're used to. Taking time to think ahead and make a plan of action for each of your tasks can help you feel more prepared and in control. Learning to pace yourself can make the difference between feeling overwhelmed -- or feeling fairly calm and enjoying your time at college.

The SWAP unit "Preparation for Higher Education" (often referred to as 'Prep for HE' or PHE) is designed to help you cultivate this skill, among others. Prep for HE is a requirement of progression and class tutors will check that it has been completed, but it is largely a unit that you must complete on your own initiative.

Completing Prep for HE is evidence of your ability to direct your own learning and take responsibility for your work, which are qualities that will be reflected in your final SWAP Student Profile grades.

Make it a habit to visit this page at least once a month to ensure that you know what is expected of you and to prepare for what is going to happen next.
